Assault Class:

In Battlefield 4 the Assault class is the all-around frontline position and arguably the game’s most versatile class. Generally on offense, the Assault class can be played as a fast-paced point position, leading charges for the team. This type of Assault style is supported by the class’ assault rifle, which works well as a close-quarters weapon and can be equipped with a shotgun or grenade launcher attachment.

The Battlefield 4 Assault class also comes equipped with med kits and defibrillators, allowing offensive charges to be self-sustained or allowing an Assault unit to fill a support position. Should an Assault unit decide to support or defend, the versatile assault rifle can be equipped with a scope as well.

The Support class is another versatile class in Battlefield 4. Support units use machine guns to lay cover fire during offensive charges. By suppressing enemy positions, Support units allow other offensive units breathing room and maneuverability. The Support class can also supply ammo to teammates and to his/herself, which is critically to sustaining a strike or holding a position.

The Support class is also important in holding defensive positions in Battlefield 4. Machine guns can be mounted, increasing accuracy, allowing Support units to more effectively defend a strategic position. At their disposal are also a number of explosives, which can be placed to disrupt enemy offensive movements.

The Engineer class in Battlefield 4 deals with vehicles, either supporting or engaging them. As an offensive role, the Engineer can support offensive charges by repairing vehicles used for movements or strikes. The Engineer comes equipped with a carbine rifle, which allows the class to engage in close to medium-ranged combat. The Engineer can also use its anti-vehicle weapons to take care any encountered enemy vehicles or soldiers.

As a defensive unit, the Engineer is pivotal to holding key positions in Battlefield 4. As mentioned before, the carbine rifle makes a fine weapon to engage foot units that breach your position. However, the anti-tank, anti-aircraft, and other explosive weapons at the disposal of the Engineer are necessary for preventing armored units from besieging your position. Finally, Engineers may lay mines that can disable vehicles that roll over them.

Recon Class:

A favorite for sniper-based gameplay, the Recon class in Battlefield 4 excels at long-range combat. That isn’t to say that it can’t play an important role in an offensive strike. The Recon class also has access to SMGs, which works as a good close-range weapon. A Recon unit can also throw a motion sensor to detect enemy positions before a strike, which will display enemy positions within 25 meters. Recon units can also laser-designate targets for other team members, ensuring accurate missile delivery.

For obvious reasons, the Recon class as a sniper is a super-effective defensive unit in Battlefield 4. Taking out enemies from a distance keeps the pressure off a defensive position, as does spotting enemy unit movements. Recon units can also designate spawn points for team members, and should be coupled with other defensive capabilities to protect newly spawned units.
