Battlefield 4 (BF4) Beta Released and Coming Soon

Battlefield_4_CoverDeveloped by DICE and published by Electronic Arts, Battlefield 4 will continue the franchise’s rich tradition of large-scale first person shooter gameplay.

While Battlefield 3’s single player campaign left something to be desired, the developers behind Battlefield 4 say they have recreated the single player campaign in the image of the franchises’ multiplayer style.  Now, the large-scale matches that fans of the series came to expect from multiplayer will also appear in the single player campaign.  A variety of vehicles will be available for missions, such as tanks, jets, and various naval units.  You will even have to keep your vehicles repaired and in working order to complete some missions.

In the Battlefield 4 single player campaign you will play as US Marine Sgt. Daniel Recker and you will be participating in a global conflict involving the US, China, and Russia.  At your disposal will be a variety of weapons and hi-tech gadgets, from mobile motion sensors to defibrillators.  The course of the campaign will shift from tight urban environments to wide-open battle scenes and the environments you encounter will be dynamic; players will be able to interact with their surroundings to affect the game.

What keeps players coming back to Battlefield 4, however, is its intense and expansive multiplayer gameplay.  Players will be able to choose from 4 classes: Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon.  Each class comes with its own equipment and abilities, each requiring unique gameplay.  The classes lend themselves to the squad-based gameplay that Battlefield 4 is built on, and each member of the squad must fill his/her role if they wish to prevail.

Returning are the plethora of vehicles that players can and will use during matches.  Ground vehicles such as a tanks and jeeps and air units such as jets and helicopters are always a mainstay and make a triumphant return.  Naval units, however, got a significant upgrade in Battlefield 4, gaining additional new attack boats and dynamic map elements.  Players utilizing these seafaring vehicles will be at the mercy of random weather elements and rough seas, adding an additional layer to gameplay.

Speaking of map elements, Battlefield 4’s 10 maps will all have specific interactive elements that players can use to affect the tide of battle.  From demolishing a skyscraper or flooding a valley, the dynamic multiplayer maps will force players to keep notice of their surroundings more than ever before.
