The Gilmore Girls cast reunited this weekend at the ATX conference. Questions every fan wanted to ask were discussed, including just who Rory should have ended up with. You can watch the whole panel, but we’ve got the highlights here.
Each of the actors playing Rory’s boyfriends were present: Milo Ventimiglia, Matt Czurchy and Jared Padalecki. Two of the three, Czurchy and Padalecki both voted for Ventimiglia’s Jess. Ventimiglia, perhaps out of modesty for his own character, was on Team Dean.
Although Team Jess won this vote, Scott Paterson, who played Luke, reminded them that none of the characters was good enough for Rory. Now, that may be true, but it’s certainly not satisfying for those of us who cheered and booed, choosing their favorites over the years of Gilmore Girls. Alexis Bledel did not share who she believed to be worthy of Rory’s love. Fans will be arguing over the relationships for years to come, especially when you can rewatch the highlights of each relationship on Netflix!
The future of Paris and Doyle, Rory’s newspaper friends, was also discussed. The actors said that they believed that the two would have ended up married. Lauren Graham also admitted disappointment that Luke and Lorelai did not end up married.
Much more was discussed, including the possibility of a Gilmore Girls movie (not yet), Amy Sherman-Palladino’s latest project (a musical), and whether Gilmore Girls would be popular on TV today. Maybe someday we will get a Gilmore Girls movie with the wedding Luke and Lorelai deserved.
