22 hours following his tweet, Don Nguyen removed his wildly popular 1-off game, Flappy Bird, from both the iPhone App Store and Android’s Google Play. Did you miss out on the Flappy Bird frenzy? There has been a flood of Flappy Bird clones for both iOS and Android platforms since the weekend, some that are totally free and some with in-game purchases. The games feature the simplistic design of flying a small 8-bit character through a series of infinite obstacle courses. The addictive thrill comes from always trying to score one more and constantly competing against your own and your friends’ high score. The game is deceptively easy in its design, but Flappy Bird was extremely difficult due to the hard-to-control mechanic of tapping to keep the bird flying (in a bumpy way).

See our list below for the top clones for Flappy Bird in case you weren’t able to get the original. At the bottom of this post, we also have a way you can download a copy of the original Flappy Bird app.

1. Ironpants

So far, Ironpants has been the most popular clone. This is pretty much the same game, but features a little superhero instead of a bird. Apparently, it’s less buggy as well.

2. Flappy Wings

Flappy Wings is a little easier than the original but looks and plays about the same.

This is an ONLINE Flappy Bird clone that looks and feels almost exactly like the original. You can play it on your phone browser, tablet or desktop.

This game looks similar to Flappy Bird, but you fly the bird by typing instead of clicking. A bit hard to play on mobile or tablet, but super fun on desktop!

5. If these clones aren’t working for you and you just want the original….

There are also ways to get the original app by using a torrent. There are many copies floating around in the internet through these means, but you’ll have to do some digging to get it. (Hint: google for Flappybird torrents). Remember to always use common sense and a good antivirus as this method is at your own risk.

Grey-Building

There is no question the 50 Shades of Grey movie is arguably one of the most anticipated films of 2015. Casting rumors have been swirling around the internet from day one on who would be the lucky few cast in these highly coveted and equally revealing roles. Charlie Hunman although initially set to play lead character billionaire Christian Grey, stepped down citing shooting conflicts with his role on FX’s Sons of Anarchy. In turn Northern Irish actor Jamie Dornan was brought on board to play the title character. Dornan, a successful Calvin Klein model was last seen on the ABC hit Once Upon a Time playing the role of The Huntsman/Sheriff Graham Humbert.

His leading lady shy college graduate Anastasia Steele will be played by acting newcomer Dakota Johnson. Prior to 50 Shades of Grey Johnson has had small supporting roles in: The Social Network, 21 Jump Street, and The Five – Year Engagement.Rounding out the cast are actors Luke Grimes as Christian’s younger brother Elliot, newcomer Eloise Mumford as Anastasia’s roommate Kate, and Marcia Gay Harden as Christian’s mother Grace Trevelyan Grey. Set to be released in February 2015 just in time for Valentine’s Day, filming began in the principle set location of Vancouver British Columbia, Canada in November 2013. Various locations in and around Vancouver have been used as recognizable landmarks in the film. Here is a closer look at the cast of 50 Shades of Grey along with some set photos from the film.

While some bolts are good for entertainment and some are better for posting pictures of your cats, BoltBus is the only one that gets you where you need to go. BoltBus is a relatively new bus service that was primarily founded so that Americans living on the east and west coasts can begrudgingly visit their in-laws during Thanksgiving. That said, BoltBus is unarguably one of the best ways to travel (by bus)—if you happen to live in one of its operating routes. BoltBus is a main competitor to Megabus with both services offering tickets for as low as $1, but compared with other bus services, BoltBus has a few extra perks. Here’s why BoltBus is the better way to travel.

1. Cheap tickets.

BoltBus is on par with other discount lines in the price category, but still: the ticket prices are hard to beat. If you are quick enough to buy your tickets, you may be lucky enough to snag a ticket for just one dollar—not including transaction and processing fees, which can add up to over two thousand dollars per ticket (not really).

2. A better slogan.

Have you ever seen the slogan for Megabus? It’s “Low-cost express bus service.” Zzzzzzzzz. BoltBus almost makes bus travel seem cool with its tagline: “Bolt for a Buck.” And think of all the potential hidden meanings! Are they asking for an adult male deer in exchange for bus service? Or perhaps they’re insinuating that a handsome buck is your destination? You could ponder all day.

3. First-Class Seats

BoltBus coaches come with all the typical 21st-century discount bus service amenities—power outlets, footrests, questionable Internet access—but they go one step further. Every BoltBus is equipped with these amazing leather seats you can use to disturb the woman behind you by reclining back as far as you want. It’s hard to find a bus with seats that wouldn’t look out of place in a home theater, but BoltBus has them.

4. Making Red Cool Again

Red is no longer just for middle-aged men driving Corvettes. BoltBus is making a statement with its bright-red paint that stands out from nearly any other bus service out there. Blue is so last millennium.

5. Uncomfortably Friendly Customer Service

With more and more businesses taking advantage of Facebook and Twitter for connecting with patrons and providing customer service, the barrier separating the business and its customers has been blurred. And with BoltBus, things have just gotten a little out of hand. Should there be some limit to how much BoltBus connecs with its patrons? Probably. But reading through BoltBus’ Twitter feed is just too much fun.

Before there was Facebook, there was Bolt the social network. Before Myspace, LiveJournal, and even Xanga, Bolt was there. Bolt was an ambitious social network that began before most of us knew what social networks were or how important they’d become.

The original Bolt social network was designed for teenagers. Beginning with its 1996 launch, Bolt had everything an internet fanatic could ask for: chat rooms, message board, photo galleries, clubs (similar to Facebook groups), badges (similar to achievements), games, and so on. It gained a core of die-hard users, and eventually Bolt grew out of its teenage phase. The main user base aged as the site did, and by the time of Bolt’s closure it became a stomping ground for people in their late 20s and 30s who were still too cool for Facebook.

Not all at Bolt was always well, however. Bolt had a long and difficult history, having been through many trials including malicious attacks, inappropriate content, and moderator wars. There were many attempts to salvage the site and its community, as well as to make Bolt financially viable. Bolt was shut down and replaced by Bolt2, which was in turn replaced by a ning.com-hosted Bolt. Advertisements were introduced to help maintain the site and ensure its quality, but moderators resisted the ads and quietly deleted them. Eventually, Bolt was shut down permanently.

There are many lessons that can be learned from the successes and failures of Bolt. It is clear that one of the most important things online will always be interaction with other people, and Bolt was one of the first places for people to connect across any boundaries. Unfortunately, it’s also clear that in order to succeed, large networks like Bolt need viable revenue sources and a community that understands and supports sponsorships, advertisements and other means of income. But now with Facebook having reached over 1 billion users, is it possible for any new all-purpose social network to rise to prominence? To be continued . . .

The Disney movie Bolt, which was released in 2008, was Disney Animation Studios’ 48th feature film. The studio has a history of releasing one movie nearly every year, as evidenced by the movies that have come out since 2008’s Bolt: The Princess and the Frog came out in 2009, Tangled in 2010, Winnie the Pooh in 2011, Wreck-It-Ralph in 2012, and Frozen in 2013. I know what you’re thinking: There was a Winnie the Pooh movie? Yes, there was. Go buy some ice cream, get in your PJ’s, and pull up your go-to shady movie site and watch it right now.

Actually, any movies made by Disney Animation Studios in the late 2000s and 2010s are worth watching. After the early to mid-2000s slump of “meh” movies starting with Brother Bear (forgive me) and ending after Meet the Robinsons, Bolt reined in a new era of features that hark back to the golden age of Disney animation.

boltdog

Bolt itself may not be the next Lion King or have its own 5-Tony winning Broadway musical, but it is horribly cute. A dog TV star that thinks he actually has superpowers? Can you think of anything more adorable? Well, there isn’t, so you can go ahead and do that condescending gaze where you adore an animal because of his lesser intelligence.

If you haven’t seen Bolt, though, I would recommend actually buying the DVD or Blu-Ray. First of all: hi-def cartoon version of Miley Cyrus? Stop it. Second of all: you get “Super Rhino,” a short film featuring the world’s favorite hamster, Rhino. He even has his own iPhone app, RhinoBall. It’s basically an endless runner with graphics reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto III. And speaking of games (which we at Bolt3 are all fans of), there’s also the Bolt video game, in which you control Bolt and use his various powers to stop the dreaded Dr. Calico.

Bolt the dog is definitely the cutest bolt we have found, though this picture of Usain Bolt holding his son comes in at a close second.
