The 7 Most Badass Pro-Wrestling Gimmicks Ever!

The “Kayfabe” era of professional wrestling has been around since the since the 1920’s, and in that time the we’ve seen some absolutely insane and amazing characters.

Whether it was Doink the Clown “buzzing” his opponents with handshakes or Mick Foley shoving his dirty sock down people’s throats, wrestling has always proven to be oddly entertaining. Hell, we’ve even seen a garbage man, repo man, and IRS agent compete in the squared circle.

But the gimmicks haven’t always been horrendous. In fact, some have been pretty badass. Without further adieu, here are my picks for the 7 best gimmicks of all time:

7. Bray Wyatt

While he’s fairly new to the WWE, Wyatt has proved to be something special. His promos are second to none and his Charles Manson/Cape Fear gimmick is the best thing going in wrestling today.

6. Mick Foley

Foley makes this list because he had three memorable and awesome gimmicks. The hardcore king, Cactus Jack. The demented Mankind. And the tie-dye loving Dude Love.

5. Hulk Hogan

The 24 inch pythons. The shirt ripping. The hand to the ear. Hogan and his larger than life gimmick paved the way for every other sports entertainer that would come after him.

4. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin

Austin’s gimmick was simple, but extremely effective. He caused hell, stunned everyone in sight, and drank beer. A lot. “The Texas Rattlesnake” was the attitude era.

3. Ric Flair

I don’t know if I could call Flair’s “Stylin’, profilin’, limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin’ n’ dealin’ son of a gun!” shtick an actual gimmick. But, I only say that because that’s really was how the “Nature Boy” was in real life. In any case, Flair truly is the man.

2. Jake “The Snake” Roberts

The innovator of the DDT was the god of ring psychology. But more importantly, he brought a giant snake around with him everywhere and draped it on his opponents. I mean come on, the dude once had a freaking cobra bite Randy Savage.

1. The Undertaker

He’s “The Deadman”, an unstoppable phenom that has tombstoned his foes in caskets and graves for the last twenty-four years. With a legendary combination of in-ring skills and theatrics, The Undertaker has proven himself to be the biggest spectacle in the history of wrestling.
