3 Crazy Things We Learned From “Ultimate Weed Trivia”

There’s a new quiz app for stoners on the App Store, and if you can put down the pipe for two seconds and remember anything about the world’s most beloved drug, you might just be able to master it. I tend to doubt it, though. “Ultimate Weed Trivia” is the kind of game made by pot smokers who are fascinated by weed, to the point where they will talk your head off about cannabinoid chemical compounds and optimal growth environments. These folks tend to also be the ones who have Opinions on why the government has banned pot for decades, though, so they’re way too annoying to actually listen to. But Ultimate Weed Trivia makes me wish I actually knew what they were talking about, because some of these facts are absolutely nuts. Here are just a few of the 100 crazy things we at Bolt3 learned from Ultimate Weed Trivia.

1. A Chinese Emperor Explored Pot Science Back in 3000 BCE

chen-nung
Chen-Nung was a pretty chill guy. While teaching ancient Chinese peasants to plow fields and use axes, he also took some time to investigate…ahem, alternative agriculture. Also anglicized as Shennong, this emperor did experiments with all kinds of herbal drugs. It’s a wonder he wasn’t too blazed to actually harvest his crops.

2. Jefferson Used Hemp as Money

Back in 1781, Thomas Jefferson was governor of Virginia. Things were going pretty well for Tommy Boy, what with having time to invent the dumbwaiter while his slaves did everything of real importance. But there arose a problem: there wasn’t enough paper to print the money Jefferson needed to keep capitalism afloat in his state. Jefferson thought fast and used his strategic hemp reserves(!) as money until regular paper could be brought back into circulation. Maybe he used Ben Franklin’s hemp press operation to print everything.

3. There Are Over 200 Slang Words for Marijuana

Sure, there are always going to be street names for any drug, but this is pushing things a little too far. At this point, if you say a word, it can probably refer to pot in some way according a stoner somewhere. I prefer asking for “trees” myself.
